Family law encompasses a broad range of legal areas involving marriage and children. Common family law subjects include divorce or annulment, child custody and visitation rights, child support payments, and spousal support/alimony. It also deals with domestic violence and restraining orders.
Personal Attention | Thoughtful Litigation | Final Resolution
In the state of New Jersey, in order to file for divorce, you or the other party must reside in the state for at least a year prior to filing. There is an exception if adultery is the grounds for divorce. In this instance, the one-year requirement preceding the litigation is relaxed.

In short, family law cases can be tough. It requires that your attorney have the ability negotiate on your behalf and vigorously protect your children, money and your assets. I’m here to protect these interests as if they were my own! Make no mistake about it: My clients do NOT get taken advantage of. I don’t embrace the notion that there is “no winning” in family law cases. Don’t let anyone tell you what you will or will not get out of a divorce or any action in a family court setting. We will decide together what your goals are, and devise the most affordable and timely way to get there. As with other areas that I practice, I don’t tolerate delays, and make every attempt to make sure your case moves forward in a timely manner.
If you’re starting to think about a divorce or family law proceeding, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for a free consultation. People often ask me if an attorney is really needed in divorce proceedings. Usually it’s for all the right reasons – they are worried about cash flow, or spending saved money that could be going to their children. Unfortunately the answer is yes. I’ve seen people attempt to avoid doing it, choosing to rely on Internet research, friends, etc. The results aren’t pretty. Along those lines, it absolutely makes sense to consider an Attorney like myself over a higher-priced alternative from a larger firm.
